Student Farm annual okra & pepper cook-off

The okra cook-off tradition began over ten years ago when the student farm started growing heirloom varieties of okra for seed preservation. This season, we're growing over 50 varieties of peppers as part of another diversity project, so we'll add peppers to the cooking extravaganza.

 Break out your sweetest, spiciest or slimiest okra and pepper recipes and join us at the Ecological Garden for a scrumptious potluck dinner.  Prizes will be given for crowd-pleasing dishes, with extra points earned for combining peppers and okra!

 We'll be harvesting okra and peppers from our fields that can be picked up at the Student Farm Monday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 11. Email Ildi at icarlislecummins@ucdavis.edu  for information.
