Student Harvests is the Student Farm Market Garden’s year-round subscription farming - Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. It serves the campus community by providing faculty, staff and students with an opportunity to subscribe to receive weekly baskets of fresh, organic, student grown produce. It provides students with the chance to participate in all phases of the CSA operation – from planning and field preparation to harvesting produce and packing the baskets.

Subscription farming is a relatively new method of direct marketing being used by a growing number of small, diversified farms in California and elsewhere. However, it is more than just a marketing strategy. It also is designed to build a cooperative relationship between the community of customers and the farmer. In subscription farming, the customers pay in advance for a weekly basket of a diverse mix of fresh produce.

Student Harvests baskets are filled with a diverse mix of seasonal, student-grown produce each week. Summer baskets may contain tomatoes, peppers, squash, sweet corn,melons, beans, cucumbers, basil, bulb onions and various tree fruits. A winter basket might contain lettuce, broccoli, carrots, beets, cabbage, fresh herbs and citrus. The subscription fee is $21/week, paid in advance quarterly; student subscribers are eligible for a modestly reduced subscription rate. Due to our educational mission, the size of the the Student Harvest CSA is limited, and we have a waiting list.
