Professional Development Program
The Western SARE Professional Development Program (PDP) begun in 1994, aims to help agricultural professionals increase their understanding and proficiency in sustainable agriculture. The program strongly encourages cooperative learning opportunities involving both producers and professionals. Agricultural professionals include Cooperative Extension personnel, NRCS field staff and other agricultural, natural resource and community development professionals. More information available at the WSARE PDP Web site. WSARE offers competitive PDP grants on an annual basis. Calls for Proposals and deadlines are available at the Western SARE grants page. http://wsare.usu.edu/grants/ Since 1995, Western SARE PDP has also made small annual grants to designated state coordinators for ongoing professional development efforts and promotion of SARE grant opportunities in each state, as well as for coordination of regional activities. The state SARE PDP representative for California is David Chaney, with UC SAREP. WSARE PDP state grant funds support development of the SAREP Web site and a variety of educational materials, and provide workshop and conference opportunities for extension service providers statewide. |
